PORTLAND -- A person was stabbed on a MAX train near the Oregon Zoo Monday night, police said.

Officers were called just after 11 p.m. to the report of a fight on the train near the zoo station, said Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson.

The victim was found at the scene suffering from stab wounds and was taken to a nearby hospital without life-threatening injuries. He was later identified as 19-year-old Drew Christopher Stokes of Tigard.

Suspect Herman Johnson, 52, was arrested and charged with one count of assault.

Transit police and central precinct officers were investigating.
