SANDY, Ore. A seriously injured woman wasn't discovered until the morning after crashing in the woods off Highway 26 west of Sandy Saturday night, police said.

At around 8 a.m. Sunday, someone reported seeing a crashed vehicle in a wooded area on the north side of the highway near milepost 22, said Lt. Gregg Hastings with Oregon State Police.

When emergency crews arrived, they found 35-year-old Kendra Domico seriously injured and suffering from hypothermia about 150 feet from the wrecked vehicle, Hastings said.

Domico was taken by emergency helicopter to OHSU.

Investigators believe Domico crashed her 1996 Ford Explorer around 9:45 p.m. Saturday. They think she got out of her car and wandered away to where she was found in the morning, Hastings said.

Police learned that someone may have heard the crash but did not see it and failed to call 9-1-1.

Police say alcohol or drugs were not factors in the crash and are continuing to investigate.
