MANNING, Ore. A Portland woman riding a bicycle was taken to the hospital after she collided with a pickup truck on Highway 26 Saturday.

Shortly before 4 p.m., 56-year-old Betty Johnson was riding with four other cyclists on the north shoulder of the highway near Manning, Ore., said Lt. Gregg Hastings with Oregon State Police.

Johnson attempted to cross the highway toward a Dairy Queen and rode into the path of a 1990 Isuzu pickup driven by 27-year-old Kerry Costello of Manzanita, Hastings said.

The pickup carried the bicycle across the highway and into a fence.

Johnson was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, Hastings said.

Costello refused medical treatment at the scene.
