The countdown is on for volunteers working long hours to decorate the 16 floats soon to star in Saturday's Grand Floral Parade.

Stars this year include horses, a whale and a serpent powered by 8 people pedaling bicycles.

The parade is know as an organic presentation. Every surface the judges see must be covered with natural materials grown from plants.

Unlike the Rose Parade in California, designers for our parade are allowed to create color by dying seeds and coconuts.

About 20 percent of what you will see is grown in Oregon. The 16,000 roses you will see have been shipped from South America.

Volunteers come back year after year, including some float veterans of 30 years.

Rain or shine, this year's them, Carnival Of Roses, is sure to make for a memorable Saturday.
