McMINNVILLE, Ore. The suspected shooter who fired bullets that came within two feet of where young children were sleeping in an apartment in McMinnville was arrested Wednesday, police said.

Investigators think the gunfire was gang-related. They said the shooting occurred outside an apartment near the intersection of NE 9th Avenue and Logan Saturday night.

On Wednesday McMinnville detectives arrested Jairo Estrada Velazquez, 18, and said they found the gun that was used. He was already in custody on another charge.

Police also arrested Carisa Lynn Botello for trying to protect the suspect and recover the evidence.

The bullets hit a window and a wall in the children s room, but no one was injured.

Police have not said if they believe the apartment or anyone inside was the intended target.
