PORTLAND Residents in the Alameda area of Northeast Portland have growing concerns about coyotes appearing in their yards.

The Audubon Society hosted a meeting for homeowners Thursday night, to try and address their fears and many questions.

Residents also learned what they can do to make sure coyotes aren t enticed to stay in their neighborhood longer like making sure food is not left outside.

Bites to humans are incredibly rare, it does not happen often. But the situation it does happen in, is when they're showing a lack of fear of humans, explained Bob Sallinger with the Audubon Society.

Wildlife experts said there is evidence that three coyotes have been living in the Alameda neighborhood since late October.

A potential new ordinance would actually make feeding coyotes illegal in Multnomah County.
