PORTLAND A Milwaukie man who yelled at a passing car to slow down was assaulted and left bleeding in the street.
Joseph Garvey, 59, was walking near his home in the 12200 block of Southeast 19th Avenue around 9 p.m. Thursday when he yelled at the passing car.
This guy was speeding down this road, which is a 20 mile per hour road, said Garvey. I yelled at them to slow down because there are dogs and other kids running around.
Garvey says that s when a suspect came out of the car and assaulted him, then drove away.
It happened so quick and I turn around and all of a sudden, bam! I'm down on the ground and starting to get punched, he said.
Garvey was found bleeding and lying in the street, according to Officer Ulli Neitch of Milwaukie police. He was taken to Oregon Health & Science University for treatment.
Garvey said he suffered a broken nose and lost a tooth. He had stitches inside of his mouth and over his eye.
It hurts pretty bad, but it could be worse, he said.
Milwaukie police were searching for the suspect. Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call the Milwaukie Police Department.
