SALEM, Ore. (AP) -- State inspectors say an earthen dam at Salem could flood about 40 homes if it failed.

The Oregon Department of Water Resources and city of Salem sent letters this week to nearly 400 residents telling them the Cinnamon Lakes Dam need immediate action to bring it into safety compliance.

The Statesman-Journal reports the dam was used in a fish-farming operation in the 1960s and is now owned by a condominium association and mobile home park.
