PORTLAND -- The Q Center in Portland is using the Sochi sign at Pioneer Courthouse Square to raise awareness about Russia's anti-gay laws.
The center is asking people to take pictures while being as queer as possible by the sign. The center wants to show support for gays in Russia, which has been criticized for laws banning so-called gay propaganda .
So here we're free to wear a boa or a wig and take our picture next to the Sochi sign and we figured it would be a good way to sort of insert this thing that we're all feeling and caring so much about into the Olympic conversation that's happening, said Logan Lynn with the Q Center.
Russian officials, including President Vladimir Putin, said there will be no discrimination against gays during the Olympics.
