PORTLAND -- A bus driver for Portland Public Schools is off the job after students took cell phone video of him asleep behind the wheel.

Students at Lincoln High School had been complaining about their sleepy bus driver since the beginning of the school year, so one of them decided to get proof and hand it over to the district.

The video shows the driver dozing off and shaking his head to stay awake.

I d feel really bad if somebody died because of his actions and I didn t do anything about it, said Lincoln junior Nick Sayre, who took the cell phone video.

School administrators said it wasn t the first complaint about the driver. He's no longer allowed to get behind the wheel of a Portland Public Schools bus.

The driver's employer, First Student, was monitoring him and didn't see a problem until the video surfaced.

School administrators said they will review First Student's policies to ensure something like this doesn't happen again.
