STEVENSON, Wash. The man accused of blowing up his dog appeared in court in Skamania County Thursday morning to request that his bail be reduced.

Christopher Wayne Dillingham, 45, was accused of blowing up his family s dog on Aug. 4. Dillingham said he killed the dog because an ex-girlfriend put the devil in it. He also said he was preparing for the rapture.

He was originally not charged with animal abuse because there was no proof the dog suffered, according to a spokesman for the Skamania County Sheriff s Office.

Dillingham was eventually charged with reckless endangerment, animal cruelty and felony possession of a bomb or explosive device. His bail was set at $500,000.

The judge denied Dellingham s request Thursday.
