CORNELIUS, Ore. A DUII driver hit a car on the Tualatin-Valley Highway causing it to flip. He then sped off into Cornelius before getting tracked down and arrested Thursday.

Just before 10 p.m., a deputy tried to stop a speeding Jeep Cherokee westbound on the highway between Hillsboro and Cornelius, said Bob Ray with the Washington County Sheriff s Office.

The driver sped down the highway where it struck a Toyota Yaris, causing it to hit the median and roll onto its roof. The deputy stopped to help the people in the Toyota and called for other units to pursue the driver, Ray said.

Officers from multiple agencies swarmed the area and found the Jeep hidden in a neighborhood in Cornelius. The driver, 21-year-old Angel Mendoza (pictured), was found at his home, Ray said.

Mendoza was arrested and charged with DUII, assault, reckless driving, hit and run, with other charges possible. He was held on $20,000 bail.

The driver of the Toyota was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Toyota s passenger had minor injuries.
