PORTLAND A bicyclist who collided with a garbage truck in Southeast Portland Friday morning remained in critical condition Monday, police said.

Just after 11 a.m., the bicyclist and the truck collided at Southeast 17th Avenue and Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard, said Sgt. Pete Simpson with Portland police.

The bicyclist, 22-year-old Matthew Charles Casperson of Southeast Portland, was taken to a nearby hospital with traumatic injuries. He was listed in critical condition Monday afternoon.

The driver cooperated with investigators and was not impaired at the time of the crash, Simpson said.

No citations were issued and the investigation was ongoing.
