NEWPORT, Ore. -- The suspect was still loose after a stabbing early Saturday morning in Newport, police said.
Police were called at about 2 a.m. to the report of a stabbing at the intersection of Highway 101 and Highway 20, Newport Police Sgt. Tom Simpson said.
Several witnesses at the scene said 23-year-old Daniel Brown had been stabbed by a man wearing a dark hoodie and light-colored pants, according to Simpson. The suspect left the area eastbound on foot.
Brown was taken to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital and underwent emergency surgery for three knife wounds. He was expected to survive.
The suspect was not found. Anyone with information was asked to call NPD Detective Mitch France at (541) 574-3348.
