PORTLAND One of the victims killed in a Clackamas Town Center shooting was a hospice nurse who helped people find peace toward the end of their lives, but never got to say goodbye herself, friends and family said.

Cindy Ann Yuille, 54, of Northeast Portland was one of three people, including the gunman, who died in the shooting Tuesday night. A 15-year-old girl was injured.

Yuille, died of a single gunshot wound to the back.

Yuille's husband and daughter were doing their best to celebrate Cindy's life.

She was always a goofball, Robert Yuille said. We always felt like we had been married our whole life.

Her daughter Jenna said when she couldn't get a hold of her mom she initially wasn't too worried.

I kept calling her but I knew she was fine because there was tons of people and only two people had been killed, she said. And even days later she struggled to believe it. She's my mom. I don't know what to do without her.

Yuille was a hospice nurse for Kaiser Permanente.

Cindy was a beloved caregiver for the kind and compassionate support she provided for patients and families at times of impending loss and need, Kaiser spokesman Dave Northfield said. Our hearts are with Cindy s husband and family as they absorb this tragedy and grieve.

We ask that you respect the privacy of the family at this most difficult time. We also know that co-workers are mourning Cindy s loss, he added. Kaiser Permanente has made available counseling services to employees as they struggle to accept this heartbreaking loss.

Cindy was an amazing hospice nurse, she spent her life helping other people transition to the end of life and her family never got to say goodbye, her friend Kelly Nickerson said. We re all going to miss her. It s horrific that this wonderful angel that touched everyone s lives is gone.

The family was planning a memorial service for Friday, December 21. They had not yet confirmed the location, but said it will be open to anyone who wants to be there.

Steven Mathew Forsyth, 54, of West Linn was also killed in the shooting. Kristina Shevchenko was shot several times and was reported in serious condition Wednesday.
