PORTLAND -- A teenager was injured in a Southeast Portland hit-and-run crash Thursday Thursday night.

At about 10:30 p.m. Thursday night, a driver struck an 18-year-old man as he crossed the street at Southeast 110th Avenue and Division Street . The driver did not stop.

The victim was hospitalized with traumatic injuries.

Tami White works nearby, and said area is not very safe for pedestrians.

People dash across the street and try and beat traffic here, and a little bit further down, because it s a long way between cross walks. I wouldn t want to cross this street. People don t stop. They don t see you, White said.

Investigators did not say what caused the crash, but the Willamette Pedestrian Coalition says it raises awareness of the extra dangers this time of year.

With the rainy weather and daylight savings time on the way, pedestrians and drivers need to be extra alert. Halloween is just a few days away and more people and children will be out and about.

Police said the driver was in a green sedan. Anyone with information was asked to call police.
