PORTLAND -- Temperatures reached 88 in the late afternoon Monday, breaking the record of 86 that goes back to 1973.
Monday's heat followed a string of very warm days and at least one more to come.
The high on Mother's Day was 87 degrees, short of the record 92 degrees also set in 1973. On Saturday the high temperature at PDX was 84 degrees.
Temperatures in the Portland area on Tuesday were expected to reach 81 and then the cool-down will begin.
Low pressure off the California coast has kept the Oregon Coast cloudy and cool.
The same front will create morning clouds Tuesday, then afternoon clearing. Temperatures will drop into the 70s mid-week, the 60s by Thursday but no rain is a part of that forecast.
