HILLSBORO, Ore. A boy was injured after a car crashed through a Hillsboro dance studio and pinned him down, police said

Just before 4 p.m. a 66-year-old woman driving a Hundai Tucson pushed on the gas instead of the break at Element Dance Studio on Cornelius Pass Road in Hillsboro, according to Sgt. Eric Bunday of Hillsboro police.

The Hundai crashed through the front bay windows of the dance studio, into the viewing area, where parents often watch their children practice.

The 9-year-old boy was pinned under the car, but was able to get out, Bunday said.

He suffered non life-threatening injuries and was taken to Legacy Emanuel Hospital.

No one else was hurt and no citations for the incident were expected to be issued.

Bunday said the dance studio was between classes and the situation could have been much worse if more children had been present.
