Hayden frequently meets with judges, district attorneys and police. She s even worn police gear. Now, she s wearing the Nike Fuelband.

She s just one of many local business leaders who are up for the challenge.

Gail Baker is Vice President of Strategic Communications for Regence Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

Fuel points are a Nike fitness metric. The Fuelband is a high tech accelerometer that measures your physical activity.

In the Nike challenge, teams and individuals compete to see how many fuel points they can get.

Teams aren t just running for points, they re training for the ultimate challenge at the end of May, a three-day adventure race in Central Oregon called The Wild Canyon Games.

We hoped to inspire executives and leaders of companies to see that there are different ways to improve health and wellness, said Wild Canyon Games Executive Director Carley Dillion.

At the games, 140 teams from around the world will compete in events like the triathlon and challenges like canyon swings and mud pit obstacle courses.

At the Wild Canyon Games we aspire to Nike's motto, If you have a body, you're an athlete.'

Hayden said she was up to the challenge.

It sounded like an adventure and it is, Hayden said.

The Wild Canyon Games is a non-profit organization. In the last five years, it has donated $1.6 million to local charities.
