WOODBURN, Ore-- Vandals cut phone lines, cable wires, and spray painted over a dozen homes at a senior community in Woodburn Tuesday night.

Golf carts, cars and 15 homes, golf carts and cars were spray painted, some with vulgar expressions, at the Estates Country and Golf Club in Woodburn Tuesday evening, according to the Woodburn Police Department.

Vandals left a typewritten note behind claiming to be from the Woodburn Public Works Department and suggesting the act was related to a nearby road construction project.

But the City of Woodburn said there's no connection.

Neighbors tried to clean-up Thursday, many of them with the help from friends or relatives.

Many of the victims are in their 70s, 80s and even 90s and aren t sure they why they were targeted.

They must have grudge or something, said 88-year-old Ionce Yonce. This is the third time vandals hit this senior community in less than a year. In June, 30 homes and cars were damaged. Then again in December, vandals spray painted homes.

Police don't know if the cases are connected.

The city offered a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest.
