ST. HELENS, Ore. -- A former bookkeeper has been charged with stealing thousands of dollars from a St. Helens women's resource center.
Hillary Ann Sims, 40, of St. Helens, was arrested last week after an investigation revealed the money had been stolen from SAFE of Columbia County, said St. Helens police Chief Terry Moss.
It is believed that Ms. Sims wrote several checks, made payable to herself, and netted approximately $13,000 from the women s resource center accounts, Moss said.
A grand jury indicted Sims on 42 theft charges, eight counts of forgery and seven counts of identity theft.
She was booked into Columbia County Jail with bail set at $25,000.
