ONTARIO, Ore. A teen was killed after getting ejected from a pickup truck in a two-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 84 near Ontario early Sunday morning, police said.
Just before 2 a.m., 17-year-old Ryan Ronald Rule of Fruitland, Idaho was passing a car on the right side in eastbound lanes of the interstate just west of the Idaho border, according to Lt. Gregg Hastings with Oregon State Police.
Somehow the truck s right side collided with the other car, sending the truck careening out of control into westbound lanes. The truck rolled several times and ejected Rule before landing in an grassy embankment on the side of the road, Hastings said.
Rule was pronounced dead at the scene. Seventeen-year-old Robyn King of Payette, Idaho was not ejected and was taken to the hospital where she was expected to survive.
Neither person in the truck was wearing a seat belt.
The other car spun several times and none of the four people inside was injured.
Police said the speed the pickup truck was driving was a factor in the crash.
