PORTLAND -- Drivers were out this morning scrambling to pick up their cars that were left abandoned on the road after Thursday s snow and gridlock.
Towing companies have been slammed getting vehicles moved off the freeways before snow again started falling again Friday.
The lot on Southwest Barbur Boulevard is one of four that ODOT is bringing cars to. People were showing up all morning to get their cars after they couldn't make it up the hill on I-5 northbound.
Many had no choice but to leave their cars on the side of the road.
We called for a tow. Waited for about 2-and-a-half hours and they never showed. Car started to overheat, so shut it down. I just climbed up the side of the hill over the fence and saw a Comfort Suites on the other side so I went and got a room, said Steve Fandrey.
If you left your car on the side of the interstate here are the locations you can pick it up.
- If your car was left on US 26, Sunset Hwy on Sylvan Hill: pick it up at the Oregon Zoo.
- If it's at I-5 at SW Barbur Blvd: pick it up on Barbur at end of I-5 and the Barbur off-ramp.
- For those who got stuck at the I-5 off-ramp to Marquam Bridge: pick it up at the Old Spaghetti Factory.
- And lastly, if it's at I-5 at the I-84 interchanges: pick ups are in the OMSI parking lot.
ODOT has important advice for you, it said to not leave your car on the side of the road. Stay with it and call AAA or a tow truck.
Leaving your car will only create a bigger mess and slow down plows trying to clear snow from the road.
