VANCOUVER -- A Vancouver man has been sentenced to more than 14 years in prison for kidnapping, assaulting and robbing three people in October.

The Columbian reported 35-year-old Nicholas M. Loredo pleaded guilty Dec. 12 in Clark County Superior Court to first-degree robbery and first-degree kidnapping in exchange for reduced charges. He was originally charged with three counts each of first-degree kidnapping, first-degree robbery and second-degree assault.

Judge Barbara Johnson sentenced him on Monday to the maximum amount of time under standard state sentencing guidelines because of his extensive criminal history.

The kidnapping occurred when a friend asked Loredo to help him recover some stolen property from some mutual friends. On Monday, he says he tried to mediate a dispute between friends and things go out of hand.
