PORTLAND -- The 6th grade team from Portland s Grant youth football league took the American Youth Football League Championship title Friday in Orlando, Fla.

The team said the accomplishment is something they ll never forget.

I'm still on top of the world. It s been amazing an amazing ride I ve been blessed to coach these guys since the 3rd grade, said coach Anthony Jordan.

They didn't just win it. They destroyed the competition. In three games at the nationals, the Generals outscored their opponents 101 to 6.

On Wednesday, they played around on the field where they put in all their hard work and won the 2013 Jim Taft championship trophy.

Each player brought home a medal, which is something they proudly showed off to their classmates. At the end of their championship run Jordan got the time-honored tradition of a Gatorade bath, which is just one of the many memories the players will keep for the rest of their lives.

I felt good because we won it for the first time. Taking first it felt good, said said lineman Rashon Greenwood.

The players are already talking about taking the 7th grade title next year. But it's not all about football for the Generals; the team has a collective grade point average of 3.2.
