PORTLAND A woman was robbed by a man Thursday outside the Nordstrom department store at the Washington Square Mall.

The woman was sitting in her car Saturday evening when a man jumped into her car, Tigard Police spokesman Jim Wolf said.

The suspect reportedly said, I'm Parker, and we're going to go for a ride.

The woman said she screamed as the two fought over her purse. Then the man ran off with the purse, which had $50 inside, police said.

The victim said she never saw her attacker's face.

I was asked by the police if the man had a weapon and it didn't even occur to me. He did have his hands in his pockets the whole time. I guess I was just so surprised that it didn't even occur to me that he might have a weapon, she said.

The suspect was described as a white man in his late 20s or mid-30s, 6-feet tall, slender and very well-dressed in a black jacket and khaki pants, according to police.

Video taken on a surveillance camera indicated that the suspect may be driving a black or dark colored late 90s Subaru Forester, police said.

Anyone with information was asked to call Tigard Police at 503-639-6168 or via email at

Earlier this month, a mall employee was attacked from behind while walking to her car in the parking lot. She suffered fractures to her face. Investigators do not think the two attacks were related.
