PORTLAND -- Fortunately, the Timbers are playing at home. They take on Real Salt Lake at Jeld-Wen Field Saturday night at 7 p.m.The bad news: They've started each game this season by falling behind 1-0 early. They rallied to beat Philadelphia at Jeld-Wen and posted a draw at Dallas so far this season. But they gave up a goal in the first minute last weekend and lost at New England 1-0.

How do they turn it around?Timbers Head Coach John Spencer had a humorous answer for the media during Friday Morning s practice at Jeld-Wen.

Threaten them.Threaten them with a big stick. How s that? Adding seriously, I don t know.I think it s a mental thing. We re a good team.I think we re a good team when we play high tempo and we start the game well.

Spencer says it's a players' league and he try to can prepare them, but when they take the field it's pretty much up to the players to get it done.

Timbers Captain Jack Jewsbury thinks the team will be ready and will have a better start against Salt Lake.

Everyone on the field s got to be accountable and you know that becomes a theme among this team, says Jewsbury. That makes it easier and everyone s job becomes simpler.

The Timbers will have another big crowd for the game, but they'll be without Midfielder Kalif Alhassan. He has a left groin Injury and won't play.
