RAINIER, Ore. A bill that would honor Rainier s fallen police chief is making its way through the Oregon Legislature.

The bill calls for re-naming part of Highway 30 after Ralph Painter. Painter was shot and killed while responding to a 9-1-1 call about a possible car theft in progress last January.

The mayor of Rainier said the only obstacle would be coming up with the money to pay for the new signs.
