VANCOUVER A suspect slammed his car door on a deputy s arm during a traffic stop in Hazel Dell, Wash. and then also rammed another patrol car while trying to flee early Thursday morning, police said.

Deputy Luque said it all started just after midnight when he pulled driver 25-year-old Thomas Jackson over for traffic violations.

Luque said he was trying to take Jackson into custody for providing a false name and driving with a suspended license when suddenly, Jackson slammed the door on him and then sped off.

During the police chase that followed, Jackson also rammed his vehicle into a Clark County patrol car, police said. The sergeant in that vehicle was not injured.

The police pursuit eventually ended in the parking lot of the Teal Point Apartments, at 10405 NE 9th Avenue in Vancouver, where the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Jackson was booked at the Clark County Jail on several charges including assault and attempting to elude. Police said additional charges of obstruction, resisting arrest and driving with a suspended license would be forwarded to the prosecuting attorney for their review.

Luque was treated at a local hospital for an injury to his arm.
