WARRENTON, Ore. A Coast Guard helicopter crew and local responders rescued two Portland hikers stranded on a cliff Monday in Ecola State Park, south of Seaside.

A third hiker called 911 after making it up the cliff, and Seaside emergency personnel contacted Coast Guard Sector Columbia River dispatchers for help.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Astoria found the hikers and conducted two 200-foot hoists with a rescue swimmer to pull them from the cliff.

Due to the ruggedness of the Oregon and Washington coasts and how quickly things can change, we encourage all visitors to be mindful of their surroundings and what the weather and tides are doing, said command duty officer John Dodd.

No injuries were reported.
