VANCOUVER, Wash. The driver in a wrong-way Interstate 5 crash that killed a 6-year-old boy in late February near Vancouver died Tuesday night, according to police.

Gage Bill Musgrave, 84, died around 7:25 p.m. while in hospice care, according to Trooper Will Finn with Washington State Police.

On Feb. 28, Musgrave somehow turned the wrong way onto the exit 11 offramp for State Route 502, which sent him onto the interstate in the wrong direction.

Musgrave was headed to a doctor s appointment when his Toyota Avalon smashed head-on into Ericka Gorremans Nissan Altima. Inside the vehicle were Gorremans, her 10-year-old son, and her 6-year-old nephew Henry who died instantly in the crash.

Gorremans and her son were recovering in the hospital.

Musgrave was not charged in the crash and was in satisfactory condition at the hospital before he was released.

We believe he passed as a result of health issues that developed as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, Finn said.
