PORTLAND -- Last year was a very good year for Oregon's wine industry.

It's yearly report card gives the industry high marks, from the growth in the number of wineries and vineyards to the overall economic impact in the state.

The glass is more than half full for the Oregon Wine Board, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year

In the last year, the industry has grown to 905 Oregon vineyards and 545 wineries. Together they turned out 2.4 million cases.

Pinot noir and pinot gris are still the two largest produced varieties. But there is continued growth in chardonnay.

All of this is creating an economic impact now reaching nearly $3 billion and 13,500 jobs.

The amount of wine we're pushing to market is about double from what is was 10 years ago, said Oregon Wine Board executive director Tom Danowski. But what's way more important than the quantity of the wine we're delivering to market is the increasing and consistent level of quality of Oregon wine.

And the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend is a very big one for tasting rooms and winery tours.

The state continues to make a national impact.

Last December, Wine Spectator magazine singled out Oregon pinot noir, calling it the evolution of the Great American Red.

In 2013, named Oregon the Region of the Year.
