PORTLAND -- Crews were called early Friday morning to a fast-moving grass that threatened Northeast Portland homes.

The 50-foot by 75-foot fire was reported just after 5 a.m., moving up a steep hillside near Northeast 21st Avenue and Northeast Multnomah Street.

Due to the terrain, crews at the scene used specialized wildland firefighting equipment, said Portland Fire & Rescue spokesman Ron Rouse.

The fire was extinguished before 7 a.m. There were no reports of injuries or damage to any homes.
