PORTLAND-- Police have called the July attack on a 70-year-old worker outside the Portland Outdoor Store infuriating. Now that the suspect has been identified, even Portland s so-called street kids are denouncing the incident.
Police believe on July 15, 18-year-old Daniel Dorson, who also goes by the name Lunchbox, struck shop keeper Larry Allan over the head with a skateboard while Allen attempted to hose off the sidewalk outside the store.
Allen, who s worked at the outdoor store from over 35 years, was knocked unconscious and suffered a gash to his head.
Street kids that KGW spoke with Thursday claim Dorson bragged about the incident afterwards.
Nobody knows where he come from, said one homeless person using only the name Rere. They just know that he just showed up and [he] was alright for a little bit until he started bragging about beating up that man.
Street kids KGW spoke with said the attack was wrong and that it s the kind of thing that gives street kids a bad name.
Especially a 70 year old man for no reason, said another homeless youth who called himself Josh. Hit someone in the head with a skateboard that s unbelievable.
Crimestoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information that leads to Dorson s arrest.
