PORTLAND -- At least one passenger was hurt and a driver was arrested after a truck and TriMet bus collided in the Pearl District Wednesday night.
Witnesses said the truck went through a stop sign at Northwest Everett Street and Northwest 9th Avenue and crashed into the side of the bus at about 8:30 p.m.
About 14 passengers were on board at the time. One person was taken to a nearby hospital and others complained of minor injuries.
One witness told KGW it happened so fast that nobody on the bus knew what was going on.
I kind of blacked out for a second. The woman next to me hit her head diagonally and was on the ground, she said. Then I realized I wasn't in the same position that I was at, and everyone was screaming.
The driver of the truck, 23-year-old Torgan James Wilkinson, was arrested for DUII, reckless driving and criminal mischief.
Clean-up crews were called to the scene to keep the fuel from spilling into nearby storm drains.
