MILWAUKIE, Ore. -- A woman's death in Milwaukie was considered suspicious Monday afternoon, but police had not released the victim's identity.

The person was a woman in her 60s, police said.

Police began the investigation at about noon, in the 2800 block of Southeast Monroe Street, according to Officer Ulli Neitch of the Milwaukie Police Department.

The death is being deemed suspicious in nature, but as the investigation is in its early stages, no additional information is being released at this time, Neitch said.

Monroe Street was temporarily closed between 28th and 29th avenues during the initial investigation.

The Clackamas County Major Crimes Team was assisting Milwaukie police.
