PORTLAND -- A man with a handgun robbed a convenience store near the Portland State University campus Wednesday and police were not able to locate him, Sgt. Pete Simpson said.

Just after 1 p.m. police were called to the report of a robbery inside the Paradise Deli & Grocery, at 1533 SW 12th Avenue, Simpson said.

The victim told responding officers the suspect entered the market displaying a revolver, pushed a customer out of the way and demanded money.

The suspect left the store with an undisclosed amount of money and was last seen on foot, headed eastbound on Clay. Officers searched the area but did not find him.

He was described as a white man, 19 to 25 years old, 5-foot-9, 160 pounds, with dark hair, dark sunglasses, a hooded sweatshirt and dark blue jeans.

Anyone with information was asked to call (503) 823-0405.
