PORTLAND A 19-year-old man was killed in a Northeast Portland shooting Saturday night, police said.
Officers responding to the area of NE 86th Avenue and NE Sacramento Street just after 1 a.m. found the man dead on the sidewalk.
The shooting took place just below Rocky Butte, where a weekend search was underway for evidence in the Yashanee Vaughn murder. Police said the two incidents were not related.
The victim was identified Monday by police as Mario Alexander Marin, 19, of Gresham. Police said an autopsy would be conducted as part of the investigation.
Investigators and witnesses said multiple shots had been fired from the inside of a vehicle and several homes were hit.
The suspect vehicle was described by witnesses as a light tan or silver 4-door vehicle, unknown make or model.
Police say there did not appear to be any other victims. They were looking into whether the shooting may have been gang-related.
Investigators released a driver's license photo of the victim Monday, hoping it may lead to more tips or clues in the case, if someone recognizes Marin. (See photo above.)
Authorities were also urging anyone with tips that may help the investigation to call Detective Chris Traynor at (503) 823-0449 or Detective Steve Ober at (503) 823-4033.
