TUMWATER, Wash. -- The organization that governs high school football in Washington is reviewing a ref's decision to penalize a player for dropping to his knee in the end zone to thank God for the touchdown.

Tumwater High's Ronnie Hastie scored the TD Monday in Tacoma in a state 2A semifinal game against East Valley of Spokane. As he's done all season, he briefly dropped to one knee, extended his arm and pointed his index finger skyward.

Hastie tells The Olympian newspaper he was giving God the credit. But the ref threw a flag, ruling Hastie had improperly drawn attention to himself.

Washington Interscholastic Activities Association executive director Mike Colbrese says he won't judge the call. But he says the association is reviewing and discussing it with the state officials' organization.
