BEAVERTON, Ore. Police are searching for a suspect after a Beaverton man was stabbed several times in the back Tuesday night, police said.

Just after 11 p.m., officers responded to the report of a man stabbed in the 10300 block of SW Scholls Ferry Road, according to Jeremy Shaw, spokesman for Beaverton police.

When officers arrived, they found 22-year-old Antonio Ruiz suffering from multiple stab wounds to his back.

Witness statements indicated that Ruiz had been stabbed in the entryway of his house in the 10200 block of SW Conestoga Drive, Shaw said.

I'm real surprised, added neighbor Dennis Anderson. That's terrible.

A man with Ruiz told officers he tried to drive him to the hospital but called police for help when Ruiz s conditioned worsened.

Ruiz was taken to Oregon Health & Science University in critical condition.

Detectives were asking the public to help identify any suspicious people or vehicles in the area around the time of the assault.

Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call Beaverton police at 503-629-0111.
