PORTLAND A group of Portland State University grad students has been working on a new plan for the future of Tom McCall Waterfront Park.

The six students have titled the project Activate the Waterfront and they re seeking ideas from the public, too.

It's actually a great space and a great story, this park, but we think we can take it from good to great, said Andrew Yaden with Watermark Planning. We're right now engaging with the community to see what they would like to see in the park and what would get more people down here.

So far, the public has chimed in with requests for more access to the water, more food options, more playgrounds and more benches or other seating options.

The next public meeting to collect input has been scheduled for May 10th at the Mercy Corps headquarters on Southwest Ankeny Street.
