PORTLAND -- A man with a gun robbed a Northeast Portland hotel Monday morning, police said.

Just before 3:30 a.m. the man walked behind the lobby counter at the Residence Inn on Northeast Multnomah Street and showed a handgun to an employee, said Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson.

The employee handed over an unknown amount of cash and the suspect fled. Police searched the area with the help of a K-9 unit, but did not find the suspect.

He was described as Latino, in is 40s to 50s, 5-foot-9, wearing a dark bandanna over his face, a green jacket and dark pants.
