PORTLAND -- MAX service was disrupted in downtown Portland early Sunday morning after a small underground electrical explosion blew a manhole cover out of place.

Around 5 a.m., crews from Portland Fire & Rescue responded to put out a fire in an underground electrical vault at Southwest 5th Avenue and Southwest Taylor Street.

Traffic lights were out in the area and authorities urged drivers to treat intersections with out signals as four-way stops.

No damage was done to nearby buildings and power was still on in the area.

No one was injured by the explosion.

Green and Yellow MAX lines were served by buses in the area.
