PORTLAND -- A former Portland State University basketball player has shot his way into the Guinness Book of World Records.

Jeb Ivey set a record for consecutive games with at least one 3-point field goal. Ivey made a 3-pointer in 177 straight games.

The streak started in 2010 while he was playing in Finland and finished in France late last year.

Shooting is my strength and in a game I should hit threes, at least one, Ivey said.

Getting the record was tough. In Ivey's final game, he shot two air-balls in the first quarter. It wasn't until the fourth quarter when he got hot.

Ivey hit four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to set the record.

I think that shooting is muscle memory and rhythm and feeling. It takes practice to get good at it, he said.

Another player threatened the streak last year. Kyle Korver of the Atlanta Hawks got to 127 games before the Blazers stopped him last season.

As for Ivey, he's back in Europe now, getting ready for his 12th professional season.
