PORTLAND A former Portland police officer has pleaded guilty to child pornography charges and will avoid trial.
Former officer Scott Elliott, 50, was arrested last spring by Multnomah County Sheriff's deputies for online sexual corruption of a child and luring a minor.
Police said Elliott did unlawfully and knowingly furnish to and use with a law enforcement officer posing as a minor a visual representation, an explicit verbal description, and a narrative account of sexual conduct, for the purpose of inducing the law enforcement officer posing as a minor to engage in sexual conduct, according to court documents.
He faces a minimum of five years in jail with the possibility of up to 20 years.
Elliott was a 22-year member of the bureau and assigned to East Precinct, the Portland Police Bureau said in a prepared statement. Elliott also worked in the bureau's sex offender registration detail.
