PORTLAND -- The principal of Portland s Grant High School granted an interview for the first time since allegations of a hazing incident surfaced early last month.

Principal Vivian Orlen talked with Oregon Public Broadcasting about the alleged incident involving six members of the junior varsity basketball team.

Portland police sex crimes detectives were investigating.

Orlen told OPB the two victims met with the suspects Thursday for mediation with the school s vice principal. She said all involved parties agreed the meeting would be beneficial.

Orlem also said she believes parents have decided against reporting hazing and bullying in the past, because they feared retaliation from coaches and others.
