BEAVERTON, Ore. -- A Beaverton mom took a long walk this weekend for her daughter with cancer.

KVAL-TV reported Vicki Traller started a planned 24-hour walk around the track at Sunset High School at 3 p.m. Saturday. Traller said she couldn't just sit home and watch her daughter suffer.

So she walked to support 15-year-old Nathalie, who has been diagnosed with a rare cancer. The family is fighting to get access to an experimental treatment.

The drug companies say Nathalie is too young for the medication. Nathalie's mother hoped her walk would raise awareness about her situation.

Traller had to cut her walk short Sunday morning to take her daughter to the emergency room. Friends stayed at the track to keep the event going.
