VANCOUVER -- If Brayden Pacheco had a second home, chances are it would be at David Douglas Park.
The 11-year-old was riding his bike at the park Tuesday evening when an older boy interrupted the fun.
He came up to me and asked if he could ride my bike and I said, no, and he pushed me off my bike and took it, said Brayden.
As Brayden lay in the dirt, his buddy chased after the thief.
When he took off I started running after him to see if I could help him, but I couldn't, said Oscar Meca. He was too fast.
The crook was gone with Brayden's bike, which he got only a week ago before it was stolen. He had sold an older motorbike to get it.
Sad because Ilike the bike a lot, said Brayden.
Herb Pacheco, Brayden's dad, jumped in his car and tried to find his son's prized possession. He came up empty.
Told him the bike can be replaced, said Herb. I'm just glad he didn't get hurt.
Brayden escaped unharmed, but he is bummed and scared.
I'm really hoping it comes back.
The thief is facing second degree robbery charges since he allegedly took it by force.
If you have any information about the case you are urged to call the Vancouver PoliceDepartment.
