WOOD VILLAGE, Ore. -- The woman who vanished Monday from outside the Wood Village Walmart was found safe Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Police canvassed several neighborhoods and posted missing person flyers after Jessica Phillips, 26, vanished.
She went to the Walmart at 23500 Northeast Sandy Boulevard just before 4 p.m., Monday with her mother. The young woman requires special medications that she did not have with her at that time.
Phillips got separated from her mother inside the Walmart and was seen leaving the store alone on surveillance video.
She was described as five-foot-five, with a thin build, short black frizzy hair and wearing a black winter jacket, blue jeans, and a purple backpack. Family members contacted police and a search was conducted Monday afternoon, but then suspended at nightfall after no clues were found.
Then on Tuesday, police reported that Phillips was found around 1:30 p.m., near the corner of North Lombard Street and North Emerald Avenue, after a tip from someone who thought they recognized her.
Jessica Phillips is safe and in good condition and is being reunited with her family, added Lt. Steve Alexander with the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office. The family would like to express their profound gratitude for everyone's assistance in helping to locate her.
