PORTLAND -- A random act of kindness from a complete stranger meant the world to a 16-year-old mother in Portland.
Tiffany Andersen said the hero restored her faith in the human spirit.
Andersen works at a McDonald's fast food restaurant in Portland. She said she was eating there on Sunday with her daughter because she gets an employee discount.
While inside, Andersen said several people commented on her 5-month-old baby including one woman who put something in her pocket.
That something turned out to be a $100 bill.
Andersen said the woman asked if she was a single mom. When she said yes, the woman put the money in her pocket and rushed out the door.
I was pretty shocked. I was like, Oh my gosh!' and then I called my mom and I cried, she said. It's nice to have somebody be nice for a change.
Andersen said the kind gesture motivated her to figure out a way to pay it forward and do something to help someone else.
As for the $100, Andersen said she can really use it right now, because her mom, who she lives with, was just laid off from her job.
